*ETA: I don’t actually know if they get separated or not. The following is total speculative bullshit. Everyone’s saying they might be, is all!*
I’ve been thinking a lot about this upcoming episode, “Alone,” and I’ve had a lot of varied thoughts. Some are really knee-jerk, like, “Oh my god! Don’t tear my babies apart!” And others are a bit more analytical, like, “It would probably do some good for the plot to have them briefly separated. It’d do the idea of a romance between them some good to separate them and then bring them right back together. Because a little bit of fear can do a whole helluva lot.” And all this and the following thoughts have been jumbled around in my head for a while now, and I figured I may as well share them.
Now, when I’m not writing or obsessing over TWD, Daryl Dixon, and Beth Greene, I’m a masters student. And my particular specialization is popular women’s fiction… i.e., romance novels. And it hasn’t been too hard to see that much of the development between Daryl and Beth has been ripped from the plot lines of many a damn romance novel.
